What is kombucha, and why is it good for you?
Kombucha is a naturally fermented tea that’s packed with probiotics, organic acids, and antioxidants. It supports gut health, boosts digestion, and can help your body feel balanced and energized.
What makes traditionally fermented kombucha different?
Unlike shortcut methods, traditionally fermented kombucha is brewed slowly with a live culture (SCOBY). This process creates beneficial probiotics, natural carbonation, and layers of flavor that can’t be replicated with quick brewing or shortcuts.
How is Boise Booch flavored?
We use real fruit, herbs, and botanicals—never artificial flavors or syrups. This gives each batch of booch its vibrant color, authentic taste, and added nutrients.
Doesn’t the alcohol kill the probiotics?
Nope. The probiotics in our hard booch are tough little beasts—they thrive in the fermented environment they’re created in. While super high-proof liquor can zap probiotics, the ABV in our hard kombucha is balanced enough to keep them alive and kicking, so you still get those gut-loving benefits with your buzz.
Why not just mix liquor into kombucha?
Adding liquor to kombucha is just a cocktail—it doesn’t enhance the natural fermentation process. Our hard booch is created through a secondary fermentation, where yeast transforms natural sugars into alcohol. This makes the alcohol smoother, cleaner, and integrated with the flavor, rather than harsh or overpowering.
What’s the difference between hard kombucha and regular kombucha?
Regular kombucha is a refreshing, probiotic-rich non-alcoholic drink (usually under 0.5% ABV). Hard kombucha goes through a secondary fermentation, creating a naturally alcoholic beverage that still keeps its probiotics and healthful qualities.

Is kombucha good for digestion?
Yes! The probiotics in kombucha help restore healthy gut bacteria, which aids digestion, supports the immune system, and can even improve mood and energy levels.
Why does your kombucha taste different from store-bought brands?
We brew in small batches using a traditional process and only real fruit and herbs. Many mass-produced kombuchas are pasteurized (killing the probiotics) or flavored with syrups and concentrates. Boise Booch stays raw, alive, and crafted with care.
Does kombucha really have probiotics?
Absolutely. Because we don’t pasteurize our booch, the live probiotics remain intact—so every sip delivers natural gut-loving goodness.
What makes kombucha healthier than other alcoholic drinks?
Unlike beer, wine, or spirits, hard kombucha is brewed from tea and fermented with a living culture, keeping probiotics and antioxidants intact. It’s a cleaner, lighter way to enjoy a buzz
Is kombucha gluten-free and vegan?
Yes (mostly)! Boise Booch is brewed with tea, sugar, cultures, and fruit—no animal products (except local honey in our lemon honey mint), no wheat, no gluten.
What makes Boise Booch special?
We’re a woman-owned, family-operated brewery in Boise crafting kombucha with integrity. Every batch is made with real ingredients, traditional methods, and a whole lot of love—because we believe booch should taste as good as it makes you feel.
